Q: Calvin, why the web site?

A: One reason is because 95 percent of my family lives very close to each other, but far away from my parents. So my Father thought this would be a good way to keep them up to date on my doings.

But the biggest reason is this: My Father really wants me to know who I was when I was growing up. He wants me to know what I looked like, what I did, and what my parents were doing at this time, a time I probably will not remember. My father also got to spend my first 6 weeks with me on this wonderful planet so that he could really learn to know who I was, so the web site will return the favor when I am old enough to view and read it.

Q: Why a photo of the day?

A: Why not? There are times that I will do something for the first time and my parents will be able to show those moments to me. My father is also an avid photographer and not a video guy just yet, so photographs it is. He has a web site as well, it is located here. At first, I was bothered by the camera noise, but after about 2 weeks, I was used to it. I actually stared at the camera one day. I wonder if I will be into photography when I get older?

Q: Cal, can we call you Cal? Are you really writing the captions on all the photographs?

A: Yes, you can call me Cal. And yes, I am writing them. Okay, not really, but my Father is writing them through my eyes with his best guess. I will let him know in a few years if he was right.

Q: Cal, does your Father know that he is not the first to have a child? Do your parents know that they are most definitely not doing anything new?

A: Um, yeah, hello??? They are doing this for me, nobody else, and not promoting it to show that they are doing it. It is for family and me. That is all they really care about. They love me and are doing this for me. If you think they are doing it for other reasons, you are wrong. Update: Someone did email the site link to a chicago publication recently, and they interviewed my Father, but I do not think anything will come of it. My Father really did not want to do the interview and wants to keep this for family only. So if it does not turn out, that is fine by him. He isn't even promoting this to show off his photography, Mr. Endless Marketing is not marketing this to anyone other than family or friends. This is a private site and keeping it that way will make him happy. I bet if he did market it, he would score a bunch of photography jobs though. He is my Dad and the best photographer in the world!

Q: Do you really want email? Will you be responding to them?

A: ABSOLUTELY. And yes, I WILL be responding to them when I get older, not my father as me. My father will save them for me and someday I will go through them and reply via email, or in person, or texting, or whatever is the way to communicate then. I really want to get to know my family and friends and I really want to know what you were thinking during my first year in life and while you were viewing this web site. So yes, email me, introduce yourself, and share your thoughts and stories. I cannot say this enough; you are emailing ME in that address, not my parents. Me. I WILL read them, and I WILL respond when I get older.

Q: Why do you call your parents Mother and Father, you are young you know? How about Mommy and Daddy?

A: Um, no. I do call them Mom and Dad as well, but we have a strict rule, that if you break, my parents will scold you. NO BABY TALK. EVER. PERIOD. Thanks.  Revision: My instructor Lauren is allowed to talk baby talk to me. She is fantastic and I will let her slide. So will my parents.

Q: Steven Wilson and Hawaiian music? I notice you Father is not playing the typical kids music for you. He has a weird taste in music, isn't it driving you crazy?

A: Yes, no baby talk, no baby music. Only good stuff, like Miles Davis, Steven Wilson, all Hawaiian artists, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Dave Brubeck, etc. My Father finds music to be one of the most important aspects in life, and I am going to be right there with him. I don't think his taste is weird, he is just willing to try something different, and I like that he does. I want to hear and see everything in my life, and listening to different music is going to be very important to me.

Q: Does your Mother believe you are here yet?

A: Nope, she is still saying she cannot believe I am here. She is also saying that I am perfect, I am amazing, and I am so cute. I promise not to let all this inflate my ego. My Mother is all that and more. I cannot believe I am here. Every cry, smile, burp, poof, and breath is my gift to her, and my Father. They say they have no idea what they are doing, that Google is my third parent, but they could not be more wrong.

Q: Two questions, do you think you look different since you were born, and is your Father's photography improving since he started this?

A: Yes. Yes.... Oh, you want more? Okay. Yes, I have grown into my skin. I look a lot different. My face looks more like my Father. Unfortunately, I have not one feature that looks like my Mother. I could be my Father's mini me. Now, about my Father's photography. Yes, absolutely. He hated taking pictures of people, and I think that hatred is gone. He has improved drastically. He says he views all these photos on his iPhone and is amazed on how many good photos he has taken. When you have a subject like me... :) I think he is getting better even though he has only taken 92 photos of something other than me since I was born. When this year is up, he will be back and I bet he is going to push the boundaries of photography in his own little way. Stay tuned, I promise he is going to amaze...

Q: About your Father's photography, how is he doing all this and does he have a statement about it?

A: He is doing a stellar job, and I think this is 3rd on his priority list for the day. Number one is to love his Mother and I with all his heart every day and make us happy. Two is to get me though the day without a second of grief. Third is to get a quality photo every day so that when I am older, I can look at them and know exactly what I did my first year of my life. Specifics on how he is doing it: Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II with a 50mm f1.4, all natural light with absolutely no lighting added, all are non planned except for 3 posted photos so far and all are spontaneous, and he really has no plan going in. The Inauguration day photo was the only one he thought about days before he took it. He is totally winging it. I think he is documenting my life beautifully so far, don't you think? Also, I know he is not looking for your normal "baby photo" every time, he likes to do different things and I am sure the farther this goes, the more he will push to do different things. Sometimes, anything he shoots ends up as a "baby photo" unfortunately.

Q: Can we ask you more questions later?

A: Yep, definitely. I would answer more tonight, but I am busy having fun and making my parents laugh.
